Calling all volunteers

“Here am I Lord” The opening to a song many of us know and have sung at a campfire. It is a romantic song and one that calls to mind one or more times when we have answered God’s call to action.

This summer, Camp Marshall needs your help. We have put together a vision of restarting youth programs in 2022. This year we are adding;

Grace Camp - July 12 - 17, 2022

Jr. Middler Camp - June 26 - July 1, 2022

Sr. High Camp - July 10 - 15, 2022

To date we have seven staff who have answered the call and will be here to meet and serve our children and families for the summer season. Our original goal was 19 staff (8 of which would be counselors in cabins). We are still hiring and very much on the lookout for volunteers to help make the summer come together.

We are, however, in need of more help for the summer of 2022.

What we NEED to fill out the summer: -

Summer Camp Counselors:

We currently need:

2 counselors for the boys (each program week).

4 counselors for the girls (each program week).

Some of the best counselors in the world are over 60 and are engaged in youth ministry. Don't count yourself out. To open the door for campers we need staff to receive them. If we are short on staff we will need to reduce enrollment goals. A great starting place is prayer. Pray about serving as a counselor. If you feel called apply.

Camp Nurse - for Jr. Middler Camp and Sr. High, Also an RN to do a video check in with our day camp teams in late July and August (Three weeks)

Program Support Volunteers (Including Family Camps)

We will need 2-3 persons per week.

  • Arts and Crafts: There is always an interest in friendship bracelets, tie dye and art. If you are interested, it would be great to have you here.

  • Day Camp Volunteers will also need to complete an online application.

  • Volunteer Kitchen staff or "Hospitality staff":

    • We will need one to two hospitality staff each week to help in the kitchen. That can range from helping cook to setting and clearing tables. We do ask persons in this role to obtain a servsafe food handler card (online class is available). There is a $15 fee which the camp will reimburse.

    • o https://www.servsafe.com/access/SS/Catalog/ProductDetail/SSECT6

  • Boating: who have experience in boating to serve as a “second” as part of a plan to help with a rescue if one is needed. Each watercraft that travels needs to have a lifeguard and another “spotter” or person who has practiced helping pull someone out of the water if a lifeguard has to “go in. This is a very “rare” need – however it is important.

  • Arts and Crafts: There’s always interest in classic activities like friendship bracelets, tie dye, and art. But if you have any other creative gifts to bring to the table, we’d love to have you here! Our theme for the summer is "Reaching up and Reaching Out". We will be taking a closer look at our baptismal covenant.

What you will need to do:

Anyone who volunteers MUST apply through our online application.

Safeguarding God’s People Training

· Once you have been accepted you will need to complete several online modules of training for safeguarding God’s People. The courses are easy and can be done at your own pace.

At this time, I am asking you to pray about serving as a volunteer this summer.

If you are called to serve at Camp Marshall, my hope and prayer is that your response is “Here I am Lord”.

Additional training will be available via zoom or review of online recordings of classes. A goal will be to have volunteers arrive the Friday evening before a session starts. That will allow for moving in Friday evening, cover classes / policies on Saturday for Preparation of campers on Sunday. (If this is not possible, let me know, I will work to make this a success.

If you have questions or need any more details, please call me directly.
